As a Yakima and Tri-Cities photographer, I’m always inspired by seasonal colors and textures, especially when clients are planning winter sessions or thinking ahead to spring portraits. The holidays always bring out the perfect mix of cozy textures and a little sparkle and this year I’m loving the balance of bold color, soft knits, winter black, and subtle glam. Today’s Holiday Edit mood board is all about easy, wearable holiday inspiration for Christmas gatherings, winter parties, or even a fun date night in December.

It’s the perfect combination of cozy winter style and simple glam...nothing too over the top, but still festive and polished and I'M HEAER FOR IT!

✨ Outfit 1: Cozy Winter Red + Chic Faux Leather

If you love staying warm but still want a polished holiday look, this outfit is such a perfect balance. The bold red sweater brings that classic Christmas warmth, while the faux leather pants add a modern, elevated feel that’s both chic and winter friendly.

The off shoulder neckline keeps the look feminine and cozy, and pairing it with simple gold jewelry adds just the right amount of holiday shine. Faux leather pants are a great alternative to skirts during the colder months, they’re comfortable, stylish, and always photograph beautifully.

Add a quilted black crossbody bag and you’ve got an effortless holiday outfit that feels festive without being overly dressy. Perfect for casual Christmas gatherings, winter date nights, or any occasion where you want cozy + glam wrapped into one look.

This look is also perfect for winter photos here in Yakima and Tri-Cities Washington, since the textures photograph so beautifully in soft winter light.

 

✨ Outfit 2: Winter Party Sparkle

For a little more glam, swapping in a black sequin skirt instantly elevates the look. Sequins photograph beautifully because they catch winter light in the softest, prettiest way.

Paired with tights that look sheer but warm and classic black heels (the bow detail is everything), this look feels fun and festive without being overly dressy. It’s the perfect middle ground for holiday parties or New Year’s gatherings.

This board blends some of my favorite holiday tones:

  • Black – timeless, chic, pairs with everything

  • Gold – subtle and glowy for winter light

  • Cozy textures – knit, sequins, faux leather, and sheer tights

These colors work beautifully together for both outfits AND winter photos.

 📸 From a Photographer’s Eye

The textures in this mood board are some of my favorites to photograph during the winter season. Red gives a gorgeous pop against neutral holiday backgrounds, and black always feels classic and flattering. Sequins catch light beautifully, and soft knits add that cozy vibe that fits so well with the holidays.

Even though this board is “just for fun,” these tones and textures are amazing for holiday photos, Christmas cards, or New Year’s content.
